Kroger and Ocado host Groundbreaking Ceremony in Groveland for second U.S. customer fulfillment center

Groveland –  Kroger and Ocado will celebrate the official groundbreaking for the second U.S. high-tech customer fulfillment center and the introduction of Kroger and Ocado to the state of Florida. Representatives of both companies, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners and the city of Groveland will be on site to share remarks at the ceremonial event. 
 
Kroger is investing $55 million to build the approximately 375,000-square-foot facility, which will be the second in America. The project is expected to create 300-400 new jobs.
 
The company has committed to building 20 customer fulfillment centers nationwide, powered by U.K.-based Ocado, to accelerate its ability to provide customers with anything, anytime and anywhere. The CFC model – an automated warehouse facility with digital and robotic capabilities, also known as a “shed” – will be replicated to serve customers across America.

Photo ops: Kroger and Ocado executives, sneak peek of robotics technology, ceremonial groundbreaking, and active construction site. Officials will also make a donation to a local food bank. Following the groundbreaking ceremony, select officials will be available for interviews.
